A Comparative Study on Satisfaction with Military Medical Service Depending on Characteristics of Military Units

Abstract
This study was carried out with a view to provide basic data required to prepare for practical measures to offer quality medical service for military men in the future by making research of special features of military units and military men"s satisfaction with military medical service as well as by comparing and analyzing difference, if any, in such satisfaction of the men who were discharged recently from military service in the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps of the Republic of Korea.
From the analysis, it was made clear that 1), as for experiences utilizing medical service in the military units, majority of the surveyed were put in military hospitals, followed by those who used dispensaries of battalions, divisions and regiments; 2) 2.96 in average was satisfied with military medical service and, by subdivisions, facilities and environment were most satisfactory, followed by hospitality of the medical staff, their concern and service, convenience in application procedures, and their level of technology and expertness; 3), in terms of difference in satisfaction by characteristics of military units, there was difference in satisfaction with military medical service as well as in subdivisions depending on army and type, character and location of military units; and 4) statistically significant positive (+) correlation existed between satisfaction with military medical service and all of subdivisions.
The findings of the analysis suggested that it is obligatory task of the country to guarantee quality medical service for military personnel in order to increase satisfaction of military men with medical service and, thus, the country should exert best efforts to construct an appropriate system for military medical service and to exhibit ceaseless concern and support for the military area in order for no concerned parts to be left unattended.
